Q. what is this service and how do i book ?

There is nothing better than leaving your cat happy and content at home when you go away, that's where we come in......

Helping Hands Mobile Cattery Service provide high quality care at fair prices. We work on the same format as a Cattery, We feed and care for your pet, clean their area, administer medication if required but the difference is your Cat stays at home !

Dawn and Her Cat Ladies offer a superb service so you can go off on your travels happy in the knowledge that your pets and home are in great care. The Mobile Cattery Service is available everyday of the year. If we key hold for a client they can even be on route to their holiday and book their service for the same day, we don't mind short notice

Clients can book their service anytime by email, text or phoning our office. For New clients wishing to join us , When you enquire about the Mobile Cattery Service we will give you your personal quote and all the information you wish to know to help you to decide if you would like to use our service or not. Once you have decided to make your first booking Dawn will arrange a consultation with you at your home to go through all your requirements then your ready to use the Mobile Cattery Service as and when you wish...its that simple !

Q. Are your staff vetted and checked ? 
Yes, all members of the Team are thoroughly vetted before they start their journey to become a professional Cat Lady / Cat Man. The Owner and manager of Helping Hands Mobile Cattery Service Dawn Jarrett, has a high criteria for applicants to meet before they even get an interview for a position. Dawn personally interviews all her candidates in their own homes and there is a 3 month probationary training period for all new employees to pass before becoming a fully fledged member of Helping Hands

Q. Who will be visiting my pets ?
Once you become a client of Helping Hands, only we take care of your pets, we don't collaborate with other services or outsource your bookings, which is common practice between some Pet Services. Our Clients know that only a Helping Hands member of Staff is Visiting your Pets

Q. Do you close down for Holidays ?
No, we are always open for business. We are never closed, fully booked, off sick or on holiday, we provide our service everyday of the year. We are experienced in travelling to visit the pets in all weather conditions and invest in vehicles that keep us Mobile especially when we have severe weather, including a Toyota RAV -4x4, Mazda Cx5 -4x4 and a Skoda Yeti -4x4

Q. What do you do  ?

  • We call at your home every day.

  • You choose the number of visits per day.

  • we feed your cat and clean their area, 

  • We scoop or fully change litter trays 

  • Administer medication ( oral or injection ) 
  • The time spent at a visit varies for every cats individual needs. A cat may have special dietary requirements or need medication, some cats want lots of chat and fuss while others just want to be left in peace, whatever your cats needs we accommodate this in their visit no matter how long or short it takes.

  • We water plants, bring in your post, open / close curtains and make you home have a lived in look whilst your away

Your cat is happily waiting at home for your return, no more rushing to collect your pet from a Cattery 

Your daily visit includes one of our Cat Ladies visiting your home to .... 

Feed your cat (s) , clean and wash their food and water bowls at each visit. Leave fresh water at each visit. leave treats ( if allowed ) to hunt !

Scoop / empty litter trays and clean the pets area at each visit

Chat, fuss and play with your pet


Administer medication or vitamins

Pick up your post 

Open / Close curtains or blinds

Feed your fish

Water your house plants ( on request)

Alternate lighting between rooms
Put the TV / Radio on (using timers or the TV's own sleep mode)

We make your home have a "lived in look"

We take away and dispose of used litter, uneaten food, empty pouches/cartons etc.

Put Wheelie Bins out / in (on request)

Send text messages, put photos on our Facebook page so you can see your pet when your away 

If any veterinary emergencies occur we take care of all that for you (any costs are settled when you return)

We fill in a daily report sheet ( cat-a-log)  we leave this for clients to read after the booking has finished, so you know what we did at each visit and by which Cat Lady.

Clients booking 14 visits or more receive a complimentary gift of fresh milk and biscuits for their return home !


Gateshead Area's ... Blaydon, Swalwell, Whickham, Sunniside, Lobley Hill, Dunston, Teams, Bensham, Saltwell, Low Fell, Sheriff Hill, Deckham, Felling ,Leam Lane, Wrekenton and Birtley.


      All this for only £8.00 per visit !

THE FEE INCLUDES UP TO 3 CATS..then its only £1.00 per additional cat.  ( Please note clients who book after 2pm for a same day teatime visit are charged an additional £5 booking fee, this is to cover the staff members fuel and travel time to collect your key and information from our office )

Looking to Join us ? Please be advised to book your consultation in advance of your planned trip. In peak seasons meet and greet appointments for new clients become very limited, so book your consultation earlier rather than later, then you can relax and enjoy the experience of being a Helping Hands Client ! 

Please Note ....Consultations are for information purpose only for Helping Hands  to gather all the necessary details of the client and their pet (s) Consultations are only available to new clients who want to or have booked our service. A small non-refundable deposit may be taken at your consultation which is then deducted off your first booking fee. 

KEYS. Clients can provide us with a key at the consultation or drop one to us at our base in Dunston. We can collect a key from you which incurs a £5.00 fee.

Short notice booking fee of £5 is charged if booking after 2pm on the same day that a teatime visit is required. This is to cover the allocated Cat Ladies fuel and travel time to come and collect your key and information from our office

Your pets welfare is our priority. This service is for daily visits, we  DO NOT provide a service to visit every other day.

If we key hold for a client and they do not use the Mobile cattery Service for a minimum of 18 months, your key will be either returned or disposed of to make room in the key safes for clients using the service more regularly.

During Christmas holidays if a booking is running before and after Christmas day, clients cannot skip a visit on Christmas day. Due to past experience when clients friends or family are suppose to call on Christmas day but don't,  it leaves the pet without a visit for potentially over 48 hours. Our duty of care is to the pets, therefore Helping Hands Policy is to visit at least once every day.

All pets booked in on Christmas day receive a special gift off Santa Paws!
All Pet Service fee's are paid in advance. You can pay by Bank Transfer, PayPal, Cheque or Cash anytime up to and including the day you leave. Cash and Cheques can be left out for us to collect on the first visit of your booking. Failure to pay your fee may result in your service being cancelled and your pet being placed into a local cattery. Please note Helping Hands do not provide service for high rise apartment blocks unless the client lives on the lower level 1st or 2nd floor.

Cats having 2 visits per day are on a rota of 8 hours between daytime visits. Morning visiting times are approximately from 6am to 11am then afternoon visiting times are from 2pm to 6pm, for example if your cat has been visited at 7am they will have their second visit at 3pm.

Clients have to leave parking permits where required by local councils. If the client does not have any parking facilities, Fee's for Helping Hands staff to park in council provided car parks whilst visiting your pet will be added or included in your fee.

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAYS are charged at the rate of DOUBLE TIME per visit


  • NORMAL rates apply for Easter weekend except for Bank Holiday Monday.

All pet foods, cat litter and medications are to be provided by the client. Please make sure you leave enough food, cat litter e.t.c. to last the duration of the booking. If Helping Hands have to purchase more food or litter the client will be charged an Errand fee of £10 plus the cost of the goods

Helping Hands Mobile Cattery are an independent business and do not collaborate with people / businesses in the same industry. This can lead to client error and the booking of two pet services to provide the same booking. If a Mobile Cattery Client is using another Pet Service as well as Helping Hands, the client will have their key returned to them and will no longer be accepted as a client of Helping Hands Mobile Cattery Service

This is a popular service for clients who own Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters or similar small pets snd dont want to board them.

You will be given your personal quote for the service you need.

New clients have a consultation in their home with Dawn to go through all their requirements. Existing clients can just phone, text or email anytime for a booking.



  • We call at your home every day 

  • You choose the number of times we visit

  • We tend to all your pets needs including feeding and letting your pet have some exercise and play time (clients provide running balls, tunnels and play items)

  • A daily clean of your pets area A thorough clean out of your pets environment is also available (fee of £5 small pen/cage/ hutch, £10 for large)

  • Clients can leave an small cash allowance with Helping Hands to purchase fresh fruit and veg for your Bunnies and Guinea pigs.

  • If any veterinary emergencies occur we take care of all that for you, any costs are settled when you return.

  • Follow any instructions you have for us

  • Pick up your post 

  • Make sure your property is safe and secure 

  • Keep you informed of how everything is (picture texts included)

  • The area's  covered for this home visiting service are Gateshead, Whickham, Blaydon, Dunston, Birltey area's

  • We fill in a daily report sheet, which we leave for clients to read after the booking has finished, so you know what we did at each visit and who the staff member was. 

  • Clients booking 14 visits or more return home to a complimentary gift of fresh flowers, milk and biscuits!


  • From Only £8 per visit for up to 3 small pets. From only £8 per visit for Bunnies indoor or outdoor...fee includes up to 2 bunnies. 

 For clients with multiple pets just give us the details and we can give you an accurate quote.

We take care of Guinea Pigs, Mice, Hamsters, Gerbils, Fish, Gecko's....just ask! (Sorry we do not provide service for birds or Chickens)


  • Please note Helping Hands do not provide service for high apartment blocks unless the client lives on the lower level 1st or 2nd floor

KEYS...The collection and delivery service for keys is free for your 1st booking. Thereafter clients will be charged a £5.00 fee for collecting and dropping off keys. Why not use our free key holding service, then we are just a text or phone call away for any last minute plans!
